Therapy Obedience Professional is a division of Share-A-Pet Org, Inc. designed to help train and certify Therapy Dogs to perform Pet-Assisted Therapy in hospitals, nursing homes, children’s centers and other designated institutions.
Most dog/handler teams will need a basic training course and then an intermediate training course. Our Certified Tester/Trainers have designed courses specific for training dog/handler teams to become qualified therapy teams. Our Therapy Obedience Professional (TOP) Classes offer both beginning and intermediate training for you to enjoy and train to learn and practice the exercises necessary to pass the TOP test. Share-A-Pet has partnered with experienced dog trainers, who can help you with the training necessary to pass the TOP test. All of testers are Share-A-Pet certified Tester-Trainers and use only positive training methods, which means they will treat your dog with the kindness and respect they deserve. Our Tester-Trainers offer TOP Testing and training to help you in the process of making your dog a certified Therapy Dog.
The TOP Test is only part of the certification process and should not be considered as an independent qualification to perform Pet-Assisted Therapy. TOP tests are performed by trained and registered TOP testers.
