Our members are individuals like you and me who, with their pet, are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of others who are confined to hospitals, nursing homes, care centers and children’s centers.
FREE CERTIFIED and INSURED PET-ASSISTED THERAPY
At Share-A-Pet, all of our Pet Program Pet-Assisted Therapy (PAT) Members go through thorough training and testing in order to become certified therapy dog teams. In addition, they are covered by a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy.
As a volunteer team, a handler and therapy dog adopt a facility and volunteer once a week for an hour. We have found that these once a week visits allow the benefits to carry over from week to week. This service is provided at NO CHARGE to you.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU BECOME AN OFFICIAL FACILITY
When you decide to become an Official SAP Facility, we will:
- work with you to determine the best days and times for Volunteer teams to come to your facility.
- commit that our volunteer teams visiting your facility will come at least 1 hour per week for at least 44 weeks each year.
- handle the paperwork and communications with the volunteer teams.
- ensure that you are completely satisfied with the teams servicing your facility.
- be easily reachable for feedback and ways to improve the experience for you and your patients.
- be open to doing Special Events throughout the year that can help increase the happiness
