VOLUNTEER!
It’s a great way to have fun, meet new people and support Share-A-Pet’s mission to bring happiness and improve the lives of individuals confined to hospitals, nursing homes and children centers by providing certified and insured pet-assisted therapy.
As the heart and soul of Share-A-Pet, dedicated volunteers manage and coordinate the local fund-raising events, raise awareness and energize new members! Whether it’s selling tickets, gathering donations, securing sponsorships, contacting facilities or putting together Yappy Hours, Share-A-Pet volunteers help generate funds and memberships, the lifeblood of our mission.
All volunteers interested in becoming a part of the Share-A-Pet family join as a Support Member, even those who wish to do Pet-Assisted Therapy. Support Members either:
- have a dog going through the Pet Program and are in the process of becoming a Certified TOP Team, or
- have a puppy and want to get involved before the puppy is old enough to take the TOP test, or
- have a pet who is not suited for pet-assisted therapy, or
- don’t have a dog, but love people and pets and want to make a difference in people’s lives
Support Members are not required to attend an Orientation Meeting; however, we recommend that you do in order to fully understand the ways you can get involved with Share-A-Pet.
